About
Author: Sreten Stojanović
Monument to Karadjordje is located on the plateau in front of the St. Sava Temple and the National Library in Vracar, Belgrade. The monument was made in bronze by Sreten Stojanović, built in 1979, with a total height of 3.2 meters.
Đorđe Petrović, known as "Karadjordje" and "Black Đorđe", was the leader of the First Serbian Uprising and first of the Karađorđević dynasty. He was born, most likely, on November 16, 1768 in Viševac in the Ottoman Empire (now Serbia), father Petar and mother Marica. It is most plausible, because the period from 1749 to 1770 is mentioned for the year of birth.
The object is accessible to all persons with disabilities and persons with special needs. Information about the object is also available on the Braille info board.
