About

Tower Gardoš is one of the four Millennium Towers built by the Hungarian authorities on all four sides of the world. The tower, 36 meters high, was built at the most southern point of the Empire, in Zemun, 1896 at the elevation of Gardoš, on the foundations of the ancient Zemun fortress Taurunum from the 9th century, which, as an important defensive point for centuries, stood above the right waterside of the Danube.

The Zemun Millennium Tower, in addition to the one in Hungary, is the only monument of the Hungarian Empire which remained in the territory of other states.

Today, after restoration, as a cultural and historical monument of special significance, Kula Gardoš is increasingly becoming one of the more visited tourist destinations of Zemun and Belgrade. The 360-degree viewpoint of the Tower provides a magnificient view of the Danube, Zemun, Belgrade and their surroundings.

The Tower Gardoš is partly accesible for persons with disabilities and persons with special needs.
