About
The Royal Palace on Dedinje was built in the period 1924-1929. by personal resources and by order of HE. King Alexander I (grandfather of HRH Crown Prince Alexander II).
Royal Palace was the home of King Alexander I and King Peter II. Today it is home to N.K.V. Crown Prince Alexander II and his family.
The designers were architects Živojin Nikolić and academician Nikolaj Krasnov from the Royal Academy. It is a large and representative villa of white stone in the Serbian-Byzantine style. In its composition is the chapel dedicated to St. Andrej Prvozvan. Pergolas, park balconies, pools, pavilions and concert terrace are built around the Palace.
The rooms on the ground floor are very luxuriously furnished. The stone paved gardens are decorated with copies of frescoes from Dečani and Sopoćani. The Blue Salon is furnished in baroque style, while the Golden Salon is in Renaissance style as well as the large dining room. In these rooms, marble poles carry luxurious cassette-colored wooden ceilings with bronze chandeliers. These rooms are decorated with precious paintings, chests and objects from the royal collection.
